I grade using a point system!

60-69 D

Hall Passes

*Present this pass when asking to leave the room during class.

*Students will be granted three hall passes per nine weeks. After that, detention will be assigned.

If needed, further action will be taken.

*If you do not use any of your passes, at the end of each semester, I will give 20 bonus points to be added

in to the total points averaged for a final grade.

Supplies you need to bring with you daily:

pencil * textbook * AR book

interactive notebook * grading pen

loose leaf paper * colored pencils or pens

Helpful Hints:

I would like to make you aware of a few things. First, our school system offers free tutoring two days a week

from 3:05-4:00 on Tuesdays and Thursdays with Mrs. Sims. Second, I will help students of recess or lunch

unless I have duty that day. Plus, I am also willing to help students after school until 3:30. The students will be

reminded of this daily. Third, your student MUST complete his or her work. This is no different than playing a

sport or participating in some other activity, if your student does not practice and know the plays, music lines,

etc., then he or she cannot be expected to perform well in an event. Zeroes will affect your student's grade.

Good grades cannot be expected when work is not being turned in. Please check the Parent Portal. I post a

comment if the work was incomplete or simply not turned in. Fourth, students are graded on completion of

activities, composition books, worksheets, online assignments, essays, and projects. We complete activities and

examples from the textbook that are put into composition books. REMINDER: What work best for one

student may not work best for another. We, as teachers, are always trying to instruct to the individual, even if we

are in a group setting. Please keep that in mind.

            (parent/guardian)

have read the expectations for my child and will do my best to help them live up to these expectations.

I,_______________________,

                       (student)

have read Mrs. Hoyle’s class expectations and will do my best each day to live up to the expectations set out to me.

I, Mrs. Hoyle, have set these expectations knowing that each of my students is capable of being respectful, responsible, and ready for anything I give them.  I will do my best to make this a class worth working for.

**I reserve the right to make any changes to the syllabus as needed throughout the year as deemed necessary.**

***Please contact me with any questions or if you have information about your student that I specifically need to be aware of.

Late Work

The late work policy will be strictly enforced according to the handbook on page 10.

credit will be given to students for points as a substitute for doing their homework. "After

one day, a zero will bed assigned. **NOTE: This does not apply to EXCUSED ABSENCES.**
