COMPETENCY STATEMENT: students enrolled in English III will be able to write over extended time periods for a range of tasks, purposes, and audiences.

Students will be able to exhibit standards of correct grammatical structure in written expression and oral presentations.

Students will be able to master reading standards in literature selections and informational texts.

Students will use project-based learning to acquire knowledge.

State learning standards will be implemented

RATIONALE: English is recognized as an essential part of being able to function in the world of education and society; therefore, it is imperative to prepare students to use their English skills and knowledge to be better prepared for their futures in postsecondary education and the work force.

GRADING POLICY

Students are expected to have all assignments completed and ready to submit to the teacher when the assignments are due. All assignments given as homework will be due as soon as the tardy bell rings for the next class session or on a specified date. Students will place their assignments in a folder labeled  "papers to grade" located on the teacher'2 desk. all students will be responsible for handing in all assignments without the teacher verbally instructing them to do so each time an assignment is due. NO LATE WORK WILL BE ACCEPTED.
