Please provide an essay of nomination in which you address as many of the following as possible: The teaching, administrative, or extra-duty assignments that this person held while employed for the Hobart Public Schools; The years of service and dates of employment; The contributions and impact this person had with the Hobart Public Schools; Any activities that this person is/was involved with in the community; How this person was a role model for the Hobart Public Schools. Also, please include any contact information for the nominee, a family member or representative (if available).

The selection committee requests that you share as much information as possible to allow them to appreciate your feelings and give due respect to the candidate.

Please attach two letters of support for the person that you have nominated for the Hobart Public Schools Educator Hall of Fame.

HOBART PUBLIC SCHOOLS EDUCATOR HALL OF FAME

INSTRUCTIONS

The purpose of the Hobart Public Schools Educator Hall of Fame is to recognize an individual who had made a significant impact during his/her career with the Hobart Public Schools.

Any former teacher or administrator with the Hobart Public Schools may be nominated (must be retired or deceased).

Nominations will be accepted through November 15, 2013. Nominations must be turned into the Administration Building, Hobart Public Schools, P O Box 899, 321 N. Jefferson St., Hobart, Oklahoma 73651. Please email nominations to Kathy Lowe at lowek@hobart.k12.ok.us if preferred.

The Hobart Educational Enrichment Foundation (HEEF) Selection Committee will be responsible for reviewing and recommending to the HEEF Board of Directors the individual(s) to be inducted into the Hobart Public Schools Educator Hall of Fame. Criteria for being selected into the Hobart Public Schools Educator Hall of Fame will include (1) the number of years this person was employed with the Hobart Public Schools, (2) the contributions and impact this person had during the time of employment, (3) the activities this person was involved with in the community, and (4) how this person was a role model for the Hobart Public Schools.

All nominations will be kept on file indefinitely for consideration to the Hobart Public Schools Educator Hall of Fame.

Individuals that are inducted into the Hobart Public Schools Educator Hall of Fame will be recognized at the Teacher Appreciation Reception in May. A picture of each individual inducted into the Hobart Public Schools Educator Hall of Fame will be displayed in the Administration Building.

HOBART PUBLIC SCHOOLS EDUCATOR HALL OF FAME

SPONSORED BY THE HOBART EDUCATIONAL ENRICHMENT FOUNDATION (HEEF)

BY-LAWS

Goal – Establish written criteria and by-laws that will provide the framework for identifying and selecting deserving recipients into the Hobart Public Schools Educator Hall of Fame in order to protect the integrity of this very prestigious honor.

1. Selection Committee Representatives

The Selection Committee will consist of 11 members.

The 11 members will be represented by one school board member and one administrator that will be appointed by the Hobart Board of Education and nine HEEF representatives that will be appointed by the HEEF Board of Directors.

The Superintendent of Schools will be the facilitator for the Selection Committee but will not have a vote in the selection process.

2. Criteria to be Considered by the Selection Committee

Must be retired or deceased.

Number of years with the Hobart Public Schools.

Previous awards.

Exceptional distinction to the school district and to the students.

Nominator cannot nominate relative of the immediate family. (i.e., spouse, children, parent)

3. Selection Process

Nominations will be accepted from September 1 – October 15. The nominator must include their own name, address, and telephone number to go with the individual that they nominate.

Compile list of nominations for Selection Committee Members to review. A minimum of five nominations will be required before the finalists will be selected.

On or before November 1, the Selection Committee will narrow the list of nominations by a ballot vote to be considered as finalists. A Selection Committee Member shall abstain from voting if immediate family member is nominated. The Selection Committee will use Ballot #1 to select the finalists. Each member will vote for three educators from the nomination list and rate them 1-2-3. The educator that is ranked 1 will receive three points, ranked 2 will receive two points, and ranked 3 will receive one point. A list will be compiled in

 

descending order by total points. The Superintendent’s Executive Secretary and a witness will tabulate the ballots. They will sign a form indicating participation in the counting ballot process. The Selection Committee will determine the finalists with the number of finalists not to exceed five.

The Selection Committee will obtain information on the finalists from the person that has been nominated, the person that is the nominator, or any other source that may provide credible and accurate information.

On or before December 1, the Selection Committee will review information on the finalists, and then select the Hall of Fame recipient(s) by a ballot vote. The Selection Committee will use Ballot #2 to select the Hall of Fame recipient. Each member will vote for three educators from the nomination list and rate them 1- 2-3. The educator that is ranked 1 will receive three points, ranked 2 will receive two points, and ranked 3 will receive one point. A list will be compiled in descending order by total points. The Superintendent’s Executive Secretary and a witness will tabulate ballots. They will sign a form indicating participation in the ballot counting process. The Selection Committee will determine the Educator Hall of Fame recipient(s).

The Selection Committee reserves the right to not select a recipient every year.

4. Awards

A picture of the recipient of the Hobart Public Schools Educator Hall of Fame will be displayed in the Administration Building on the Wall of Fame.

The recipient will be honored at the annual Hobart High School Top Ten Percent Honors Banquet with a special award to be presented.

Recognition with the name of the recipient will be placed on a perpetual plaque to be displayed in the Administration Building on the Wall of Fame.
